‘Just the Two of Us’ Publisher: Olivia Dean Ripped Us Off

The publisher controlling rights in “Just the Two of Us” sued Capitol Records, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing and Kobalt, alleging Olivia Dean’s “I’ve Seen It” copies protected melodic expression from the Withers classic. The Oct. 1 complaint puts another major-label release under the increasingly forensic rules of music-copyright litigation.
